In this chapter, we can see the way the priest changes the way of acting and the way looking towards life. Material things like money. He has become a ore conscious man which is giving away things only for his faith. He stops in a townin Mr. Lehr´s house, and gives some mass and offers himself to baptise children, by asking one and a half pesos, and after some brandy drinks, he lowers the price to one peso. "One peso father. We are very poor. One peso fifty. A voice from years back said firmly into his ear: they dont value for what they pay for." Pg. 167 People in this town, recieves him in a very nice way, which the priest like a lot, beacuse in other places religion and himself where rejected by everyone.
In this chapter, the priest starts thinking about others. For example when he was leaving to Las Casas he was riding a mule, and when he sees the mestizo runing after him, and tells him to please let him go with him, the priest offers to give him the mule, and he goes walking by his side. He has become a vulnerable and humble human being, which cares about others people needs.
What I think about the priest so far is that he should retire hisvow, due to the way he lived his life before. He had a life of a normal person, he had a daughter, and he constantly comited sins, and was constantly regreting, the same as a person with a normal life does. By this stage of the book he starts acting like a more reasonable human being, but he starts to question and judge himself harshly.
