man without feelings

In pages 63 - 81, we read about the interogation of Meursault in jail. We where able to see how his lawyer was trying to help him by telling him how to act and what to say in front of the judge, but he didnt listen, he didnt care and he even told his lawyer he didnt care. In my opinion, Meursault is a man with no feelings, he didnt care when his mother died, he didnt feel any regret when he killed the arab, and he didnt feel any conmotion when Marie told him she was in love with him and she wanted to marry him. When he enters jail and hes been for five months, he is already used to it and he dosnt care or make an effort to go out of there. He is only concerned because they took his cigarettes away the moment he entered jail. Meursault is a person who is very superficial, he dosnt care when something trasendental ocurrs, he is instead worried because he cant smoke, because he cant have any sexual intercourse, because he is hot, and because he cant sleep. He is very unconscious about important things occuring in his life. In page 64 - 65 Meursaults lawyer asks him if he had feel any sadness the day of Mamans death. He answered " I lost the habit of analyzing myself and that it was hard for me to tell him what he wanted to know. I probably did love Maman, but that didnt mean anything". This shows us that he didnt really feel any conmotion towards Mamans death. "My physical needs often got in the way of my feelings. The day I buried Maman, I was very tiered and sleepy, so much that Ia wasnt aware of what was going on". Pg 65. This also shows us he didnt feel much towards Mamans death. In pg 69 we see how the lawyer also tells Meursault that he is the person with less feelings ever. "I have never seen a soul as hardened as yours". With all these quotes we can see how Meursault afronts life and his problems.

From chapters 4 to 7 of The Stranger, onw thing I realized is that men are very sexist, even the police his "girlfriend" marie, is totally in love with him and he is not. She called him once and asked him to marry her, and he said it was fine, she asked him if he lo9ved her in several ocassions and he said he didnt yhink so, so she asked him why was he going to marry her, he said he didnt care. They went to a beach house to raymonds friend. They swam together and he felt the connection, and felt like finally marring, but he is not in love with her. When I say he is sexist, i say it because once in his house Raymond was with a women and he beat her. She called the police and she told them what had happen, they called Raymond and asked him something but they wernt pissed because of the fact he had beaten a woman because they talked to him and he answered with a cigarrette in his mouth. He later asked Meursault to please testiffy and say he beat the women because she had cheated on him, so I concluded that the police where sexist because they didnt care the woman was beaten, Meursault, because he testiffied against the inoscent woman, and obviousley because of the way he treated Marie.
In chapter two of The Stranger, Monsieur Meursault talked about a sunday after the death of Maman, he explained in detail what happened that day. Nothing intresting. In chapter three he talks about an old man he goes to visit, and he talks about how he curses and punishes a dog he has, then the old man invites him to eat, so he accepts, they fight and then the old man tells him a story of his ex wife and how he thought she cheated on him, so he asks Meursault to write her a letter, so he does and thats what happens in chapter three. What I can see from this book is that it is written very detailed, so it is a slow book, by the moment Ive liked it, but I get very distracted because it is very slow, so I read, I might get lost, and when I consentrate again nothing very trasendental has happened.
From pages 3 to 18 in the book The Stranger, all we could read about was Mamans funeral. At first when I started reading the book it caught my attention the fact that it began with Monsieur Meursault saying that Maman was dead, that makes the reader more intrested in the book, since humans like that suspence (atleast i do). After thinking the book was going to be interesting, I suddenly realized that the entire chapter talked about the funeral, so that was kind of disappointing because it wasnt intresting, it was dull. But I cant still judge the authors way of writing or the book, since ive only read the fisrt chapter, I cant say the book is boring or that I didnt like it
